Lauren Shaffer Introduction The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region has a reputation for high gender inequality. This chapter explores gender equality in the MENA region and discovers that this reputation is not an accurate reflection of all MENA nations. While women in some areas face severe inequalities, others maintain greater equality.
